Bret Boogie takes “Control”

The trustworthy voice of Transistor Fist, Senator Bret Boogie, finally brings us his solo debut all while flexing his first amendment rights to their fullest. Taking on our increasing need for social responsibility, Bret takes control of the mic as well as the topics he addresses. He does, however, relinquish it a couple times throughout to the likes of Senor Kaos and Methuzulah. Also, in the song, “This Is Warfare” he even includes an unearthed verse from Jax.

This Is Warfare

The production on this album is also noteworthy with straight forward, hard-hitting beats from the likes Illistrate, The GoodSon, Beat Studies, and the Senator himself. On the track “Sorta Gotta Take Control” The GoodSon uses a guitar loop that sets a tone of confidence in time of uncertainty. The drums drive the track home with authority as Bret delivers his clear intentions.

Sorta Gotta Take Control

“Generally, what I learned while making Control is that it is very difficult for an individual to maintain a proper balance within the context of modern life. To be a thinking, progressive, creative, yet responsible, respectable person is a task that needs constant attention and personal push. With that said, I learned how to rely upon myself to deliver the characteristics and style I want to espouse, but I also learned that I don’t have as much control as I think I do.” -Senator Bret Boogie
