Jax featured on previously unheard track

Produced by Tha’ GoodSon of Transistor Fist, the song utilizes an unfinished recording session with Jax of Binkis Recs before his untimely passing. GoodSon and Senator Bret later wrote around Jax’s verse, creating a new song that pays homage to the fallen artist, while maintaining Bret’s strong themes of personal empowerment and socio-political deconstruction. Senor Kaos, one of Jax’s closest friends and collaborators, then rounded out the song, co-signing the themes, while remembering the incredible energy that was Jax.

“The Real ATL”

If you are interested in what the underground is truly capable of, peep this new joint by ATL’s hottest. 4-Ize’s “Illuminated Animals” was my favorite mixtape to hit the streets in 2009. Senor Kaos is still pumpin’ his latest and greatest mix-tape, “Walk Softly and Carry a Big Brick”. Boog Brown’s “Grind Season” is out now and it is on FIRE.  These are the trend setters for our scene. We expect big things from all three this year.

Now here it is. Thanks to DJ Grandman… “The Real ATL” brings them all together on one song.

Wes Restless takes us back

You may remember him from episode 10 of the Beat Studies Podcast. Wes Restless, along with vocalist Kid Planet (aka KP from The Pacifics) bring you a new twist on an old favorite. “Moonlight” has the nostalgic melody that takes us back to 1973 when King Harvest and their Wurlitzer Piano brought this memorable melody into the world. While the original single “Dancing in the Moonlight” reached #13 on the billboard top 100, this version, in this humble blogger’s opinion, bangs it outta the park… BAM!
