Live hip-hop spills out onto Glenwood Ave.

Binkis KAOS and Camp Lo June 5th at Cenci in East Atlanta

It was a great show. Well promoted and the sound was pristine (shouts to Tony the sound tech).   It took a while to get it started, but once it did, The performances were top notch.  Kaos killed it, even more than usual. I guess he actually got some sleep. Then Binkis had a polished show complete with Killa Calm bustin it over DJ Mafioso’s breaks (remember those?).  And the NY folks came out and did their thing,  I was entertained, but admittedly disappointed that Lucini did not, in fact, fall from the sky.

16 bars Vol. 2 Where are the MCs?

“16 bars of gold” is an instrumental (for now) mixtape that DJ Dainja recorded from his vinyl crates this spring.  MCs then reserve beats and spit their best 16 bars over “their beat”. Many of the beats were reserved early and most of the returning MCs have recorded their verses.  These are the peeps that have already delivered theirs.   Mic Masters, Q-San, Alpha Noise Project, Kaos, Transistor Fist, 4-IZE, Dillon, Q-San, and SIMP.  Others have been a little slow to get there shit tracked.  Maybe they have writers block or maybe they are super busy right now.  Either way, we’re just hoping to keep the momentum and not this one turn into “16 years of old vol. 2″.

A MIX of STELLAR PROPORTIONS

We have been in the studio working on the mix to the next SIMP single, “I see stars”.  It is a tricky mix because it has so many vocal tracks on the chorus and it needs that open space airy vibe.  I have been putting my waves plug ins to work on this one.  It is a drum tight, yet spaced out beat from Band Geeks andSIMP’s vocals, well,  you just gotta hear.  But I think I have the levels where they sound best.  It will be done this week!
